The two were found in Danbury around 3 p.m., Monday, Nov. 28 at a home on Clayton Road after police received a request for a well-being check.
Danbury Police said on Tuesday, Nov. 29, that a preliminary investigation has determined the two were husband and wife.
"At the present time, it appears one of the two shot the other and then turned the gun on themself," the department said.
An autopsy is being performed today to help determine further details.
The two share three children between the age of 9 and 13. They are being cared for by family members, said Erin Henry, spokesperson for the Danbury Police.
"As there is no information leading us to believe a third party is involved in the deaths, and out of respect for the children and family members, we will not be releasing the names of those involved," Henry said.
